Meet Molly - Lead HR Insight Analyst

What’s YOUR TIPICO STORY?

In 2022 I was living in Ireland, working in tech as a research analyst within HR and finishing my MSc in Data Analytics. I was looking for the next step in my career within people analytics and the possibility for a change of scenery. I moved to Malta when I was hired with Tipco as an HR Insights Analyst. This year I was promoted to Lead HR Insights Analyst.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF TIPICO?

It’s a really similar vibe to my previous work environments in the tech sector. Everyone is talented and working hard, but at the same time they’re very welcoming and down-to-earth. I was new to the gaming industry, so I was a little bit intimidated by all the new lingo, but my colleagues took the time to introduce me to main concepts and terminology. That helped me to get up and running more quickly.

WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS WORKING HERE?

My department is really good about celebrating one another -- welcome lunches, birthdays, new baby celebrations, farewells and just general team dinners and events.  Everyone participates and we really enjoy these times together.

WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE?

My role is a bit of a bridge between HR and Finance, finding the right balance for the time I spend between the two can be a little bit of a challenge. I also have to be able to codeswitch depending on the team I’m working with. Some terms and vernacular that are common for the Finance team aren’t part of the usual conversations in HR, and vice versa, so I have to remember to pause and elaborate when explaining certain concepts.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT TIPICO?

Does everyone just say, “the people”? Because it’s definitely the people! The managers at Tipico put a lot of trust in us to do our work independently and our teammates are collaborative and supportive. The team comes from many different backgrounds, but we come together well. We have a good time and we do great work.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY PITCH  LOOK LIKE?

My days vary depending on the time of month and year, and on the needs of my internal stakeholders. I deliver analysis, forecasting, and budgeting of our staff costs to the Finance and HR leadership as well as maintaining and developing a suite of reports relating to people analytics. I also work on ad hoc analyses as requested from leadership. Doing this work means I collaborate closely with several of the teams within HR as well as with Accounting and Commercial Finance.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO?

With my new role as lead, I’m looking forward to taking more ownership within my team and encouraging and teaching others.

AS YOU KNOW WE LOVE SPORTS.. WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

Being originally from the US, most of my family are big fans of baseball and college football so that’s what I grew up with. These days I don’t watch sports much on TV or streaming, but I whenever I go back home for a visit I try to catch a live game of some sort. Personally, my favourite sports activities are hiking and swimming.

WHAT IS YOUR ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF OUR GAME?

Like most things in life, at work you get out of it what you put into it. I think Tipico does a good job of recognizing and rewarding dedicated talent.
