Meet Mark - Software Architect
WHAT’S YOUR TIPICO STORY?
I joined Tipico in January 2019 as a senior full stack software engineer with the sports digital tribe. my main responsibilities at the time were to contribute to the development of the new sports betting front end applications for mobile and desktop using the latest react stack whilst also developing new backend APIs for the new applications are using.
In October 2020, I joined the enterprise architecture tribe. My day to day now involves understanding business requirements, designing systems fulfilling these requirements, taking into consideration the scale and standards which we should follow whilst directly contributing to the evolution and implementation of our architecture.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF TIPICO?
Tipico is a FAST-PACED environment, ideas are refined and put into execution for our customers to experience in quite a short time.
WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS WORKING HERE?
The first thing that comes to mind, the launch of the new sports betting web applications for mobile and desktop based on the latest front end technologies.
secondly, the migration from a polling to a push architecture for betting odds which delivers a realtime experience to our customers whilst also reducing our infrastructure costs.
WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE?
The main challenge is balancing business and technical requirements to deliver a modern, scalable, cost effective and most importantly performant architecture which our customers are famiiliar with.
WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT TIPICO?
At Tipico, the best idea wins; anyone can pitch in ideas and they do get executed. The work life balance is great, the hybrid work approach lives on and my team members are friendly and helpful.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY PITCH LOOK LIKE?
My typical day to day involves the understanding of business requirements and transforming them into technical designs as well as analysing and executing changes to our evolving architecture and processes.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I mostly look forward to seeing further materialisation of architectural designs which help both our organisation be more innovative, efficient and cost effective whilst also maximising further the spannung for our customers.

I am very passionate about motorsports, particularly Formula 1 & E, I am a fan of the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team!
