Technical Tribe Lead

WHAT’S YOUR TIPICO STORY?

I started with Tipico back in December 2019, as a technical tribe lead in the Munich office. In my role, I work with 4 self-organized development teams, and help deliver exciting features to our customers. This is our aim for our customers, we electrify the betting experience with thrilling moments of Spannung and we are always prepared and ready to take things to the next level.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF TIPICO?

I remember being very happy that the office was located downtown, which meant I could come to work by bike. At the same time, many things were new to me, and I went through a steep learning curve in my first 3 months with Tipico. The business domain was new, I was working for the first time in a flat-hierarchy environment AND I was going to manage multiple self-organized development teams, distributed across multiple locations.

MENTION YOUR BEST MOMENTS WORKING HERE.

The best moments for me are the days before and after releasing an important project on which multiple teams have worked on, with lots of passion and dedication. Getting to be there, for the release before a big feature launch, with all the nerves and tension that come with it, and then experience the excitement in seeing the feature be a success and seeing the great system-performance, all this is a powerful emotion and incentive to keep going and achieve greater progress.

WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE?

Balancing several teams and technical projects is certainly not easy and there are days when one requires strong planning and prioritization ability.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT TIPICO?

Tipico is spread across multiple geographic locations and to be able to witness how the group delivers together, is a special and rare opportunity. We are One Team and I enjoy being part of such a diverse group.

WHAT’S YOUR DAILY PITCH LIKE?

To put it simple, I spend most of my working day talking to people, receiving or giving information – this is the way we work, we love learning from each other and listening to each other’s view points A typical day for me starts with a coffee-sync with my peers, followed by checking-in on ongoing projects, responding to emails and slack messages. This usually keeps me busy until lunch. Then, I would continue with 1on1 sessions with my direct reports OR a team sync and after that, join some alignment meetings with my peers or stakeholders. The last 2 working hours of my day, I like to keep in the no-meeting zone, so that I can self-reflect on all the information I have collected throughout the day and process other incoming requests.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR TEAM.

My team is awesome, I love working with them. I work with a diverse and extremely motivated group of people, which creates a great working atmosphere.

AS YOU KNOW WE LOVE SPORTS.. WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE?

I enjoy riding my bike together with my family. Growing up, I didn’t have a bike and therefore didn’t know how to ride one, but after moving to Munich in 2012, I bought my first bike and learned how to ride a bicycle. These days, I enjoy riding my bike with my husband and daughter and we often go to discover new trails in and around the city.
