A Day in the life of an AML Analyst

Written by Tipico

We Maximise Spannung

As an AML analyst, my main role is to investigate and monitor financial activity and transactions that appear suspicious. We also need to determine if our customer is a Politically Exposed Person (PEP). But what does a typical day look like for me?

STARTING THE DAY

Well, it all starts with logging onto our distribution to check what tasks I have for the day. These tasks are usually assigned to me by an AML specialist. Once I have a clear picture of what I need to do, I check my mailbox for any urgent emails or important updates from the company or my team. So that I don’t miss anything, I draft an agenda for the day on a notepad and I’m ready to start!

WE WORK AS A TEAM!

We believe in learning from each other and sharing knowledge so I work closely with my team to ensure that all our roles and assignments are clear, and everyone knows what they need to do to be successful in their role. We create an environment where we enjoy working and are committed to achieving the organization's goals. We have an average working time for each responsibility, which helps us improve our productivity. We also have an open-door policy where we can contact a specialist AML at any time for any information request.

Throughout the day, we remain attentive to alerts we may receive from shops, bookmakers, the VIP team and compliance through Slack or email. We prioritize tasks according to the day, and we have a weekly team meeting to discuss topics such as KPIs, updates on the evolution of our AML tasks, team events, and other essential topics so that we all remain informed. This meeting is an essential moment of exchange, and it helps us stay on top of our game.

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

Recently, we started using a new internal system, which allows us to work in real-time on all our customers' requests.

AND SOMETIMES THERE ARE CHALLENGES…

However, there are times when we face challenges, such as working directly with sports events and receiving more alerts on certain days when there are specific tournaments, like the World Cup. We also have the responsibility to react quickly to alerts from Tipico retail shops/other internal departments to ensure that we are always compliant with laws and regulations as per our licenses.

THIS IS WHAT MY DAY IS LIKE AS AN AML ANALYST AT TIPICO…

Overall, my day as an AML analyst at Tipico is challenging yet fulfilling. If you are passionate about what we do, then come and join us!
