Meet Rolan - Software Architect
WHAT’S YOUR TIPICO STORY?
I’ve been working in the software engineering industry for over 15 years and have enjoyed an exciting journey along the way. The last four years, I’ve been in the fintech sector and wanted to find a more dynamic and fast-paced environment. That’s when I discovered Tipico. After learning more about the company, I knew it was the right fit and was happy to join the team. So far, the experience has exceeded my expectations.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF TIPICO?
The culture here encourages open-mindedness, and it feels easy to share ideas. People are not only smart and professional but also friendly and supportive. This kind of atmosphere creates a really good setup for creative work.
WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BEST MOMENTS WORKING HERE?
I joined the company at an exciting time—just several months before the Euro Cup. In the world of sports, this is a major event that draws massive attention from fans and brings an immense load to our platform. I was brought on board to help with the project, improving the scalability and stability of the platform for these types of high-demand events. My best moments so far? Seeing the hard work pay off, delivery and the team’s efforts result.
WHAT CHALLENGES DO YOU FACE?
Complexity - every software system or product faces it. And naturally, it only grows over time. The greatest challenge for a Software Architect to simplify instead of making things more complicated. It’s about finding practical solutions that work for both the team and the business, without losing sight of the bigger picture.
WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT TIPICO?
What I find special about Tipico is the people-focused culture and how well it’s embedded in the organization. Since my role involves a lot of communication, I get to see this from many angles. The other thing that stands out is the company’s dynamic mindset. Although we are a well-established company and a very strong leader in our market, Tipico still approaches decisions and processes with a startup-like mentality.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY PITCH LOOK LIKE?
Well, it depends on the day or the project I’m working on. In general, I balance between brainstorming ideas, gathering different types of requirements, doing proof of concepts, and looking for hidden challenges. Communication plays a very important part in my job, as it’s all about combining the knowledge, experience, and skills of different stakeholders into a solution design. And the most exciting part for me is the implementation — that’s when ideas start turning into real products.
WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO?
I’m excited to see what’s coming next. In my role, there are so many areas to explore and different directions to contribute. I’m looking forward to tackling new challenges, delivering impactful projects, and having a lot of fun along the way.
AS YOU KNOW WE LOVE SPORTS. WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
Living in the Munich area is an adventure, especially since I’m a bit crazy about water sports. My weekends are often spent swimming or paddling somewhere near the mountains. I’m also excited to try windsurfing next year and hopefully get the hang of it!
WHAT IS YOUR ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF OUR GAME?
My piece of advice is to be open to changes. There’s always something new to explore here, even for team members who have been with the company for many years. Working here is truly interesting because we’re constantly improving our product and adapting to new challenges. If you genuinely like what you’re doing, the result will always follow.
