6 Lessons We Learned in Our First 6 Months at Tipico

Von Tipico on

Six months may not seem like a long time, but it's been enough to experience what being part of Tipico is all about. From stepping out of our comfort zones to celebrating wins together, we've learned valuable lessons about growth, teamwork, and the culture that makes Tipico special.

Teamwork Means Winning Together

One of the first things we learned is that teamwork goes beyond collaborating on projects or supporting team members when they need help. At Tipico, success is a shared achievement. Just like in sports, the strongest teams succeed because they trust one another, play to their strengths and work towards a common goal. The best moments are not only the achievements themselves, but celebrating them together. A successful project celebration, a shared World Cup match, a Beer Friday after work, or a simple "well done" from a colleague. These moments may seem small, but they create something much bigger: a sense of belonging.

Asking Questions Is a Strength

Starting a new role comes with plenty of unknowns, and asking questions can sometimes feel uncomfortable. However, curiosity is one of the fastest ways to learn and it’s encouraged here. Every question creates an opportunity to gain knowledge, learning from someone with a different perspective and build confidence. The people who learn the fastest are often the ones who are not afraid to ask, listen and keep improving.

Alignment Helps Great Teams Achieve Great Results

People bring different experiences, skills, and perspectives to the table, and that's when the best results happen. Strong relationships and open communication make all the difference. Keeping team members informed about progress, sharing ideas, and being open to feedback helps everyone move in the same direction. When people stay aligned and contribute different perspectives, teams can solve challenges more effectively, learn from each other and achieve better outcomes together, winning high as a team!

Progress Beats Perfection

One lesson that stood out early was that waiting for the perfect solution can sometimes slow progress. The biggest achievements are built through taking action, smaller milestones, learning moments, and improvements along the way. Recognising and celebrating those steps creates momentum and reminds us that getting better every day is often more important than getting everything right on the first attempt. Every small win contributes to something bigger.

Learning Happens Everywhere

Tipico offers many opportunities to learn and grow, but some of the most valuable lessons happen outside formal training. They come from conversations with your team members, cross-functional collaboration, sharing achievements, discussing challenges, and learning from the experiences of others. Every interaction can teach us something new if we remain open and curious and are ready to learn from those around us. One thing that stands out is how willing people are to share their knowledge and support each other's growth.

Challenges Are Opportunities for Growth

The moments that push us furthest outside our comfort zones are often the moments that help us grow the most. Challenges, setbacks, and uncertainty are inevitable, but they also create opportunities to learn, adapt, and improve. Rather than focusing on what went wrong, we focus on the lessons learned and how those experiences help us move forward stronger than before.

Looking back, these six months have shown us that growth is fuelled by teamwork, curiosity, alignment, continuous learning, and the courage to embrace challenges. We’ve learned that success isn't only about reaching major milestones. It's also about the relationships we build, the progress we make, and the achievements we celebrate together along the way.
